METMUN is a community of students passionate about diplomacy, global affairs, and meaningful dialogue.
At METMUN, we unite students from diverse academic backgrounds in their exploration of global issues, development of practical skills, and engagement with the world beyond the comittee room. Through conferences, committee sessions, research and collaborative discussions, our team encourages students to think critically, communicate confidently, and approach complex challenges from a global perspective.
Whether you are an experienced delegate or discovering Model UN for the first time, there is always a place foryou at METMUN. We believe that Model UN is not only about representing a country, but about learning to listen, lead, negotiate, advocate, and make your voice heard.
Speak locally, lead globally and confidently.
Dear Delegates, Advisors, Partners, and Friends,
It is with immense pride that I welcome you to Toronto Metropolitan University Model United Nations 2026.
As Secretary-General, I have been incredibly fortunate to build this year's conference alongside a Secretariat whose commitment, creativity, and ambition have made this experience truly special. What began as an idea has become a community, and it is a great honour to share what we have created with you all.
Our mission is to establish a foundation for students to find their voice in meaningful debate of global affairs. METMUN creates opportunities for delegates to incite their passion of advocating for change and to nurture their identity as strong leaders both inside and outside of committee rooms. This year's conference will reward you with all the competitive rigor, diplomatic tact, and unforgettable memories delegates come together to experience each year. In fulfilling these promises, the Secretariat has crafted six immersive, challenging committees for our delegates, followed by two socials each night of our conference. We are privileged to welcome esteemed guest speakers Dr. Robert Goodman and Plan International CEO Lindsay Glassco to the podium during our opening ceremonies to kick off the conference with their own professional insights and involvement in the global community.
To our delegates, thank you for joining us and for bringing your ideas, preparation, and commitment to diplomacy to our conference. To our advisors, partners, chairs, and staff, thank you for the generosity and dedication that brings this experience to life. None of this is possible without each and every one of you.
I hope that somewhere between opening speeches and the final gavel, you find a conversation to take home, a perspective that provokes you to ponder your own, a new connection you are glad you made, and a little more courage in the voice you bring into the world.
Welcome to METMUN 2026. We cannot wait to see you there.
With sincere gratitude,
Asia Vrazalis
Secretary-General
Toronto Metropolitan University Model United Nations
Delegates, Staffers, Friends,
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to Toronto Metropolitan University's Model United Nations Conference.
METMUN has played a pivotal role in my undergraduate journey. From late nights writing too many background guides to pre-committee nerves, what seemed like never-ending meetings slowly turned into this immense project that I could not be more proud to present to you all. What began as a simple extracurricular has become one of the most meaningful parts of my university experience, bringing me some of my closest friends, fondest memories, and toughest lessons.
I must extend my sincerest and most heartfelt gratitude to the many who made this possible.
Among our team is a dedicated Secretariat, who spent many, many hours pulling together websites, guides, nametags, schedules, and the countless other details that go into making a conference of this scale possible. Much of their work happens behind the scenes, often going unnoticed, but it is precisely this work that allows everything else to come together. To each of you, thank you for your time, patience, and unwavering commitment to this conference.
To our writers, fueled by creativity and passion, who make our conference worth putting on in the first place. To them, we owe the backbone and intellectual rigor of METMUN. Your research, imagination, and countless hours of writing have brought these committees to life, creating the foundation for the discussions that will unfold over the course of this weekend.
And of course, to our Secretary-General, Ms. Asia Vrazalis, who is undoubtedly one of the most competent, caring, and passionate SGs our team has ever had the privilege of working under. Asia has poured an immeasurable amount of herself into making this conference possible. I have had the privilege of watching her navigate every challenge with patience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to the people around her. I'm proud to call her not only my Secretary-General, but my friend.
And to the delegates; you are the conference. None of this would be worth doing if not for the courage, ideas, and passion you bring to the table. At its heart, Model UN has always been about the people who make it what it is. Every speech, every resolution, every unlikely friendship reminds us why we do this in the first place.
To you guys, I hope over the course of this weekend you take something home; if not an award, then a lesson. A friendship. A spark. A drive for something that wasn't there before.
METMUN has been three years of non-stop magic for myself. It has challenged me, shaped me, and given me more than I could have ever anticipated when I first joined. I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to extend such a special part of my life to all incoming delegates. I hope that somewhere in these next three days, you find even a sliver of the joy that this conference has brought me.
Welcome to METMUN 2026.
Sincerely,
Melody Schroecker

The Toronto Metropolitan University Model United Nations team respectfully acknowledges that we gather in Tkaronto, within the Dish With One Spoon territory. This treaty relationship among the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas, and Haudenosaunee calls on everyone who shares this land to care for it and to live together in a spirit of peace, friendship, and respect. We also recognize that Tkaronto is home to many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples whose presence and contributions continue to shape this city.
As students engaged in diplomacy, international cooperation, and debate, we recognize that meaningful diplomacy begins with listening, truth, and respect for Indigenous peoples, sovereignty, and knowledge. May this acknowledgement guide us beyond words toward continued learning, responsible action, and care for the land and one another.
