No Place to Call Home: Addressing Global Displacement
No Place to Call Home: Addressing Global Displacement
As conflict, persecution, climate change, and deteriorating living conditions continue to displace millions of people, the international community faces one of the defining humanitarian challenges of the 21st century; while some states struggle to provide protection and essential services to unprecedented numbers of refugees, others grapple with the political, economic, and social pressures associated with receiving displaced populations. Meanwhile, millions remain stranded in refugee camps or face significant risks throughout their journey to safety.
In this committee, delegates will develop coordinated international strategies to strengthen emergency humanitarian responses, improve protection for displaced populations, and support host communities. Delegates must also address the underlying causes of displacement and discuss sustainable, long-term solutions that reduce forced migration while upholding international human rights obligations.
